“Way”
Inscription: Contemplating Past and Present through the Way
This work presents the Chinese character Dao (The Way) in bold, expressive brushwork.
The strokes are powerful and expansive, executed in rich, concentrated ink. Controlled pressure and dynamic movement create rhythm and vitality, while natural dry-brush textures add depth.
The inscription “Dao Guan Gu Jin” means “to contemplate the past and present through the Way.” Here, Dao represents the fundamental principle underlying the universe and human conduct. Through the lens of the Way, one reflects upon history and the present, uniting tradition with contemporary life.
The monumental central character stands firmly like a mountain, while the flowing inscription below provides contrast and balance. Red seals complete the classical composition.
More than calligraphy, this work embodies a philosophical vision —to stand in the present while viewing all time through the enduring Way.
